William Optics ZenithStar 61 mm APO Refractor
with 32 mm UniGuide Scope - Space Gray
This 61mm Zenithstar Refractor from William Optics comes with two fantastic accessories! When you purchase this OTA, you also get the William Optics Cat Series handle bar and a 210mm dovetail plate, each anodized to match the space gray color accents on the telescope.
The William Optics ZenithStar 61 uses FPL-53 glass to help produce excellent sharp images for astrophotography or wildlife photography when working in conjunction with any DSLR. This refracting APO telescope is useful in high power both visually and, with a large image circle, for lunar photography when paired with a dedicated Field Flattener R61 (not included). The powerful performance is delivered in an incredibly portable telescope system!
When it comes to the FPL-53 glass, the objective lens' ED and SD glass dispersion properties are critical to ascertain the general color correction. The abbe index is the number used to quantify the "partial dispersion" of a specific glass. FPL-53 glass features a partial dispersion that is so close to pure fluorite, which has the highest partial dispersion of any material at around 95 V, that it has been referred to as synthetic fluorite.

About the UniGuide 32 mm Guide Scope
This guiding scope features a Vixen-style slide-base, which allows for a perfect fit onto the ZenithStar 61's Cat Handlebar. The back of the William Optics 32mm UniGuide scope comes with an M42 thread for attaching 1.25" cylindrical-type guide cameras such as QHY, SBIG, and ZWO cameras. Tightening knobs will ensure a stable fit for the attached guiding equipment.
The body of the guide scope comes with an adjustable distance of up to 25 mm. The design of the body even has a subtle focus mechanism! In order to focus the guide scope, you will need to twist the built-in dew shield. Once you have your desired focus you can lock it in with the black ring at the base of the dew-shield. The WO UniGuide guide scope has a full length of 147 mm. Of that length, the lens to the back of the guide scope is 105 mm. The Vixen slide-base measures 73 mm in length.
About the Cat Series Handlebar
When paired with the included Z61 mounting rings, this Vixen style handle bar is a great way to carry your lightweight refractor around. It also accepts Vixen style dovetails for guide scopes and guide rings. William Optics' 50mm guiding ring (sold separately) is compatible with the handle.
About the 210 mm Dovetail Plate
The William Optics DSD 210mm (8.27") dovetail plate has both a Vixen and Arca Swiss size at each end of the plate. The plate has two 1/4-20 threaded holes. The dovetail plate is the perfect accessory to help you mount your Z61 telescope for imaging sessions and visual observations.
