Tele Vue Plossl eyepieces are designed to provide excellent 'on-axis' performance with minimal diffraction. By utilizing high-index glass materials, they effectively reduce astigmatism and lateral chromatic aberration at the edge of the field, resulting in sharper images compared to other 4 or 5-element Plossl or Orthoscopic designs. The faster the focal ratio of your telescope, the more noticeable the visual improvements with Tele Vue eyepieces. These Plossls are fully multi-coated to ensure maximum light transmission and contrast. Additionally, blackened lens edges and anti-reflection coatings inside the eyepiece further enhance contrast, revealing intricate image details. The enhanced focus sharpens the light from faint stars into distinguishable points, allowing observers with non-driven mounts to enjoy extended viewing sessions before needing to adjust the image. In the 1¼" series we included a long eye-relief 40mm focal length in the series with a 43° apparent field. Like the 55mm, its focal plane is at the barrel edge for maximum field in the 1¼" format.
