The Saddle Powerbox is a clever and elegant component that integrates a power hub into a CNC machined, aluminum, dual Losmandy/Vixen-style saddle. Easily power your equipment without adding extra bulk to your setup. Two independent knobs allow you to lock your telescope securely onto the saddle.
Natively designed for the Pegasus Astro Nyx-101 mount, the Saddle Powerbox can be adapted for other mounts such as the ZWO AM5 and Skywatcher EQ6-R using a puck adapter (sold separately).
The Saddle Powerbox is able to work right "out of the box" as a standalone device. Simply connect the cables, set up the "autodew" functionality, and the Powerbox will remember your settings upon bootup. No need to connect to a PC!
Included with the Saddle Powerbox are two DC 2.1 male to RCA female cables (15 cm long), four power DC 2.1 to 2.1 male cables (two cables are 0.5m, two cables are 1m long), and one USB3.0 type-b cable (1.8m long). See below for some of the best features of the Saddle Powerbox.
Two Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) outlets are provided to power your dew heaters. These outlets can be remote-controlled through software. In addition, they can be set to "auto" and the Saddle PB's onboard environmental sensors will determine when to turn on and precisely tune the dew heaters' levels.
Integrated Ports
Numerous ports allow for the powering of multiple devices and accessories. Included are two USB3.0 ports, two USB2.0 ports, four 12V DC power outlets, and two DC 2.1mm outputs for two channel dew heaters. Overall, the Saddle Powerbox can distribute a total of 10 Amps (120W).
Integrated Sensors
Three integrated sensors provide allow for monitoring system health and environmental data. A voltmeter measures and displays input voltage in real-time, with automatic power down if the input rises above 14.5V to protect your equipment. Also integrated are temperature and relative humidity sensors to provide data on the observing environment.
Power Management
The Saddle Powerbox is able to deliver up to 10 Amps of electric current. For comparison, a typical backyard astrophotography setup requires 5-7 Amps. Electric current and voltage levels are reported and allows you to easily monitor your equipment in detail and overall power consumption. In addition, onboard LEDs can blink in patterns to communicate power issues such as under- or over-voltage. These LEDs can be turned off through software if desired.
Support for ASCOM, INDI, and Unity Platforms
The Saddle PB is fully compatible with ASCOM6 and INDI. In addition, this is compatible with Pegasus Astro's own Astro Unity Platform. Allowing full control of all Pegasus Astro devices, the Unity platform features a modern frontend.
