This Nikon TC-200 2X Ai teleconverter has been fully tested and inspected. It comes with both of its original caps. This teleconverter shows little to no signs of use and is in near mint condition. There is no fungus, have or separation to its glass.
TC-200 and TC-300 was actually a revised Teleconverters with an Ai coupling system from earlier TC-1 and TC-2. Both devices have incorporated automatic diaphragm for the Ai system on all the revised Nikkor lenses that carried with the AI-lens specifications in 1977. A significant visual difference from earlier models was the red coloured conversion scales have been omitted The metal tab for lens release were replaced with a black coloured metal tab. The TC-300 has similar dimension with TC-2 but the long protruding extension tube has a rubberized covering. Both Teleconverters have excellent mechanical structures and multicoated lens elements which were also remained unchanged in their optical compositions. Both the Teleconverters were being updated with an Ai-S lens coupling system in 1983 to cater for some selective Nikon SLR camera models that provides multi-programmed AE and Shutter Priority AE exposure control, they were being redesignated as TC-201 and TC-301 respectively. Since both of the latter devices have Ai-S features and made them compatible to take advantage of some of the automatic exposure system employs in the Nikon AF SLRs, however, many of the AF Nikkor lenses can only be used for manual focus operation.
