Lunt LS60MT 60 mm H-Alpha Solar Telescope - Pressure Tuned
The LS60MT is a versatile refractor with FPL51 ED Doublet Lens that comes in several different designs with the standard configuration consisting of a Hydrogen Alpha Module and 60 mm of aperture providing the basis for a genuine "grab and go" solar scope that offers clear, unimpeded views of the Sun unequaled by anything else in the industry. With the implementation of Lunt’s Doppler true tuning pressure system, the complexities of the solar surface are brought forth in spectacular detail. All it takes is a simple, incremental adjustment of the system’s internal pressure to change the observer’s view of the Sun. Applicable for both daytime and nighttime use, the LS60MT works in conjunction with some of your favorite accessories. Experience our closest star like never before thanks to newly upgraded optics that display its features as if they are virtually protruding from the surface.
An ideal choice for any solar observing enthusiast, this Lunt Solar Systems LS60MT solar refractor is highly portable and a genuine stalwart. The default 60 mm Hydrogen-Alpha configuration easily converts to a 70 mm aperture telescope for White Light, Calcium K, Terrestrial, and Night Time viewing using a separately available white light filter, CaK module, or standard night time viewing diagonal. During daylight hours, you can use the LS60MT to probe the Sun's illustrious prominences, filaments, and other surface wonders while at night, you can easily shift to exploring objects in our home Galaxy. The LS60MT’s design makes transitioning from solar viewing to night sky viewing a simple process that only takes a few minutes. Outfitted with an FPL51 ED Doublet Lens, the extremely versatile LS60MT is a pleasure to own in any configuration, whether it’s the standard H-Alpha with 2” rack & pinion focuser, or an optional setup such as that for White Light or Night Time viewing.
In its base configuration, the Lunt LS60MT features a hydrogen-alpha module and comes with a 2” rack & pinion focuser. Nighttime viewing can be enabled using only a few supplemental accessories (not included). The LS60MT delivers the superb Hydrogen-Alpha viewing you've come to expect from a Lunt telescope. Plus, with its updated ED Doublet Lens, users will experience intensely sharp and detailed views consistently during each observing session. Those who loved the previous Lunt Solar dedicated 60 mm Hydrogen Alpha telescope will get everything they want from the new LS60MT, and more!
True Doppler Tuning
True Doppler Tuning primarily allows for a shift into and away from the user, adding a 3-D like component to the viewing experience. Although the effect this has on prominences is minimal due to their location at the edge of the disk, it does have an impact on filaments and similarly active regions on the surface. Additionally, while looking at a filament at the center of the Sun, the user has the ability to Doppler shift from the base of the filament to the tip, thus following the filament through its structure toward you and away from you. This enhanced visual and imaging capability benefits the observer while providing a useful research tool for the avid hobbyist. Lastly, the LS60MT’s pressure tuning system allows for more precise tuning of desired features by an order of magnitude.
Solar Blocking Filter Options
Please Note - You must have a Lunt blocking filter to view the Sun safely with this OTA! Please choose a blocking filter from the drop-down above or, if you already have a blocking filter, you can choose just the NO Blocking Filter option. Thank you.
Read below for further information on the blocking filter options.
B600 Blocking Filter for use with the LS60MT
The B600 blocking filter is the most economical choice and is recommended for those who only plan to do visual observations (no imaging), as it provides about 1mm of area around the Solar disk. You will have the best results with the 6 mm blocking filter if your mount has auto-tracking. For manual tracking, we recommend the B1200, with it's wider field of view. The BF600 will come in a 2" diagonal housing.
B1200 Blocking Filter for use with the LS60MT
The 12 mm blocking filter is recommended for anyone who wishes to do imaging, will be tracking the Sun manually, or just wants more sky area round the Solar disk. The B1200 will come in a 2" diagonal housing that has T2 connections for mounting a camera or other T2 accessory.
