Contained within this Lunt LS100MT f/7 H-Alpha Solar Refractor Modular Telescope Observer Package is everything required for both solar and night sky viewing, including a B1200 Blocking Filter Diagonal and 2" Feather Touch Focuser. Additional accessories that come with the LS100MT Observer Package are 2" and 1.25" diagonals, 27 mm and zoom eyepieces, 1.25" white light wedge, polarizing filter, 1.25" adapter, mounting rings with handle, and an 8" Vixen-style dovetail.
Lunt’s LS100MT model H-Alpha Solar Refractor boasts professional grade optics and the best resolution of any telescope in its class. This highly versatile observational instrument is suitable for use during the day for viewing solar phenomena, as well as at night for viewing a myriad of cosmic curiosities. The LS100MT’s 100 mm of aperture is plenty large enough to make an impression on astronomers regardless of its current configuration. Experience our closest star’s outer marvels like prominences, filaments, surface granulation, and active regions through the easily transportable LS100MT, a solar telescope that more than lives up to the standards set by Lunt Solar Systems for high quality performance. In addition, the LS100MT, like all Lunt Modular Telescopes, features Lunt’s doppler true tuning system to allow for incredibly subtle tuning adjustments that render the finest views possible.
Observers who wish to keep viewing the sky after the Sun sets only need to remove the Hydrogren Alpha module before they can begin exploring the enormity of the cosmos. Let this refractor's triplet ED apochromatic lens with FPL53 glass take you on a journey across the Milky Way galaxy by combining one of the two star diagonals included in this LS100MT Observer package with the eyepiece of your choice. With the use of separately available filters, the LS100MT can be made suitable for White Light and Calcium K viewing. Given all its possible uses and configurations, it’s hard to imagine the LS100MT spending much time in storage.
Converting easily from Hydrogen-Alpha and Terrestial viewing to Night Sky viewing, and also to White Light or Calcium K viewing with the appropriate separately available filters, the Lunt LS100MT is proven to be remarkably adaptable. For those who own multiple telescopes, the LS100MT will, in all likelihood, be one of your most frequently used observing instruments. Available in a standard single stack design for a <.65 angstrom bandpass, or in a double stack configuration for a <.45 angstrom bandpass with an optional double stack module. While the LS100MT is capable of delivering an unforgettable Hydrogen Alpha solar viewing experience with the base single stack arrangement, to get the Sun's surface features to practically pop out at you as if they're being viewed in 3-D, you'll want to use the optional double stack module.
True Doppler Tuning
True Doppler Tuning primarily allows for a shift into and away from the user, adding a 3-D like component to the viewing experience. Although the effect this has on prominences is minimal due to their location at the edge of the disk, it does have an impact on filaments and similarly active regions on the surface. Additionally, while looking at a filament at the center of the Sun, the user has the ability to Doppler shift from the base of the filament to the tip, thus following the filament through its structure toward you and away from you. This enhanced visual and imaging capability benefits the observer while providing a useful research tool for the avid hobbyist. Lastly, the LS100MT’s pressure tuning system allows for more precise tuning of desired features by an order of magnitude.
Optional Internal Double Stacking Module
While the Lunt LS100MT comes standard as a single-stacked system with a <0.65 Angstrom bandpass, you can have this reduced to <0.45 Angstroms with the help of an internal double stack module (not included; see recommended accessories). This enables high definition solar views with truly enhanced surface details that seem as if they are "popping out" at you. This does not require that the LS100MT be returned to the factory. In fact, purchasing the single-stacked version provides a more affordable way to obtain Lunt’s best solar scope while still leaving room for upgrades at a later date. However, if you do decide on the LFPT internal double stack module upgrade, you’ll be able to experience our closest star in finer detail than ever before.
