Connect by wire, WiFi, or Bluetooth®* to navigate the night sky and track objects with this integrated GOTO system that pairs a proven German equatorial mount with our revolutionary PMC-Eight™ motion control system.
* NOTE: Bluetooth hardware included in the mount; Bluetooth-compatible firmware and application coming soon
- Precision GOTO system powered by ExploreStars II or ASCOM
- Integrated autoguider port
- Quiet belt-driven microstepper dual-axis drives
- Optimized power management gives amazing battery life
- User configurable for the widest range of applications for astrophotography and visual observing
- Glow-in-the-dark markings on mount and tripod
The difference is on the inside: iEXOS100-02 has Bluetooth capability that will be activated with a pending firmware update, and it has an upgraded internal antenna to boost wireless range.
Next year Explore Scientific will release the firmware update and ExploreStars II, an app that will connect via Bluetooth or Wifi from an iPhone, iPad, or Android tablet. I have the app on my iPhone (as others in the company do). We are in alpha testing and hope to move to beta testing in the next few weeks. ExploreStars II has a fresh, intuitive user interface, and new tools that enhances the user experience.
Also of note, the Android version will be a simple, one-click download of the whole app, rather than the two-step process that required the database to be loaded an SD-card using a Windows machine.
ExploreStars II expands the market potential of all PMC-Eight products because it works on Apple and Android smart phones as well as tablets.
