Study details of the sun in high contrast against the stark black backdrop of space using the standard-grade Daystar Filters SolaREDi 127mm f/21 Prominence H-Alpha Solar Telescope. It combines a full-aperture solar filter with the same electronic tuning system used in their Quantum-series filters to produce a powerful and effective dedicated solar-viewing telescope. Prominences, a detail of the chromosphere projected against the blackness of space behind the sun, are seen with improved contrast due to the filter's narrower bandpass versus a wider bandpass filter tuned for conventional chromosphere surface viewing. This version of the SolaREDi is outfitted with a standard filter system and is ideal for general-purpose amateur and limited research use.
The SolaREDi comes calibrated for the H-alpha wavelength at 6562.8Å and, using the electronic tuning system, which is accurate to 0.01Å, the wavelength can be offset as much as 1.0Å in either direction for Doppler shift compensation and to highlight specific areas with a digital display showing the exact tuned wavelength. The SolaREDi is equipped with a sturdy 2" steeltrack rack-and-pinion focuser that is designed to carry heavier loads without flexing and a Vixen-style dovetail mounting ring set that makes it compatible with a wide range of mounts on the market today.
