Release the full potential of your astronomical telescope with Daystar Filters' Solar System Filter Wheel and quickly convert your nighttime scope to a solar scope. Easily switch from H-alpha to sodium to helium to calcium and back again with the touch of a button to view various wavelengths without requiring separate OTAs. The wheel is offered here without any filters for those who already have a selection and want to upgrade their rigs with the wheel housing. It can hold up to four filters and requires a minimum of two to function, using any DayStar wavelength, bandpass, or custom filter combinations. An intuitive user interface with a simple two-button electronic tuner, which is accurate to 0.1Å,enables the wavelength to be offset as much as 1.0Å in either direction for Doppler shift compensation and to highlight specific areas.
Using the included plates, the wheel can be mounted to T-threads, Schmidt-Cassegrain back threads, or 2" drawtubes (to use with eyepieces or cameras). The wheel is outfitted with an RS-232 serial port that allows it to be connected to a computer and enables remote viewing of the wavelength display, and control of the tuning and filter selection. To run it at home or away, it runs on 1-30 VDC power and comes with a universal AC adapter and an international plug kit for the US, UK, EU and Australia.
Most telescope configurations and styles can be used with no aperture limit, although Daystar recommends using the wheel at focal ratios between f/27 and f/35. An optional Powermate Barlow or stop-down mask can be used to get to that f-stop, and an energy rejection filter or UV/IR cut filter must be used to prevent damage to the optical system.
