If you want to power EAGLE (that can power all other connected devices) and use it from a fixed station such as an observatory, you can connect it to an AC adapter power supply. This 12V power supply comes with a screw connector for EAGLE on one side and a plug for the socket on the other (compatible with 100 to 240V).
The 12A version has a slightly higher voltage (12.8V instead of the standard 12V) because when you are powering from the EAGLE many accessories with high current consumption, you can see a slight decrease in voltage which, in this way, it is perfectly balanced.
For example, if you want to use a cooled CCD camera (that usually requires a lot of Amps) we advice you to select the 12A version. If you use a uncooled DSLR camera, you can use the 5A version. Let's see some example, considering maximum power consumption for every element connected and powered to the EAGLE:
Example setup 1 - low power consumption system
- EAGLE: maximum power consumption 1A (average power consumption: 0.6A)
- Uncooled SLR camera: power consumption 0 (powered from internal battery of the camera)
- SkyWatcher AZ-EQ6 SynScan mount: maximum power consumption 2A (average power consumption: 1A)
- Guide camera: QHY5L-II mono: power consumption 0 (powered from EAGLE USB port)
Total maximum power consumption: 3A. For this system we suggest you the 5A power adapter.
Example setup 2 - high power consumption system
- EAGLE: maximum power consumption 1A (average power consumption: 0.6A)
- Cooled CCD camera: maximum power consumption 4A (average power consumption: 3A)
- SkyWatcher AZ-EQ6 SynScan mount: maximum power consumption 2A (average power consumption: 1A)
- Guide camera: QHY5L-II mono: power consumption 0 (powered from EAGLE USB port)
Total maximum power consumption: 7A. For this system we suggest you the 12A power adapter.
