The third version of the Ultimate Powerbox from Pegasus Astro is a feature-rich, heavy-hitter. Capable of sending 20 Amps through its many ports, the Ultimate Powerbox v3 can be controlled wirelessly through Wi-Fi, or wired through USB.
The Ultimate Powerbox v3 (UPBv3) offers ports-a-plenty! A USB3.1 hub offers power and control to eight USB ports (six USB3.1 and two USB2.0). Also included are eight 12V power outlets (six individually adjustable, two always on), two adjustable outputs (3-12V and 12-24V), three dew heater ports, and a new low-vibration stepper controller that can drive any stepper motor.
Each USB port can be switched on and off individually through the control software, and each USB port provides up to 2.5 Amps. In addition, six 12V DC power outlets feature Smart Mosfet transistors with short-circuit and overload protection. These ports are capable of up to 6 Amps each.
No cables disturb the movements of the mount and the instrument, with only the main power cord and one USB data cord attached to the Ultimate Powerbox which branches off the other cables powering all devices.
A silent and low vibrating stepper motor controller will precisely move the drawtube of your focuser. The controller drives a Pegasus Motor Focus Kit or any other stepper motor in the market (Unipolar or Bipolar) e.g. Rigel, Robofocus, Moonlight, Starlight motors. Backlash compensation is already implemented in the firmware and can be enabled, tuned, and disabled from the software. A fully ASCOM6 focuser driver is already available.
Built-in sensors include those for ambient temperature and relative humidity to monitor the environment around your equipment and to control dew. Built-in power sensors allow for real-time monitoring of volts and amps, with built-in surge protection if power input exceeds 14.5 volts. In addition, you can also monitor individual current through each of the 12V DC smart outputs.
The Ultimate Powerbox v3 enclosure is compatible with VESA mounts. The available screw holes allows for an Intel NUC or related device to be stacked with the Ultimate Powerbox.
Lastly, the UPBv3 fully supports both ASCOM6 and INDI/INDIGO
Integrated Ports
Integrated connectivity options include six USB3.1 ports, two USB2.0 ports, eight 12V DC outputs (six individually controllable, two always on), three 12V pulse width modulated (PWM) outputs for dew heaters, two variable outputs (one 3-12V/3Amp, one 12-24V/4Amp, adjustable through software), and a stepper motor controller RJ45 socket.
Integrated Sensors
Integrated sensors monitor and report environmental data and power consumption information to the controlling software. Environmental reporting comes through integrated temperature and relative humidity sensors, allowing for control of dew heaters. Power monitoring comes through an integrated ampmeter and voltmeter, with individuial ampmeters in each of the six 12V DC ports.
Power Management
The Ultimate Powerbox version 3 provides up to 20 Amps of electrical current. Power management and control features include real-time ampmeter and voltmeter readings. The UPBv3 has reverse polarity protection to prevent damage if accidentally connecting the main power supply in reverse polarity. Surge protection is integrated, with automatic shutoff if input exceeds 14.5 Amps.
Support for ASCOM, INDI, and UNITY
The Ultimate Powerbox v3 is fully compatible with ASCOM6 and INDI/INDIGO. In addition, this is compatible with Pegasus Astro's own Astro Unity Platform. Allowing full control of all Pegasus Astro devices, the Unity platform features a modern frontend.
